Cook County governments provides a variety of public safety, public health and other important functions such as administering elections, tax assessment and collection and recording deeds and mortgages.

My philosophy has always been that government must provide these services in the most effective and cost efficient manner. Guided by this philosophy, I have opposed raising taxes until this government becomes more cost effective, until the special awarding of contracts, and the hiring of family and friends first is eliminated, and until we as taxpayers and residents are assured that the taxes we contribute to county government are being most properly managed and spent.

Consistent with this philosophy, I have proposed ordinances, resolutions and polices to improve the way the county operates and ultimately designed to make Cook County a better place to live, work shop and play. Cook County must be responsive to the needs of our residents with innovation, creativity and without an ever-increasing desire for more taxes.

As an independent member of the Boards, I have worked hard to combine fiscal responsibility with social awareness. Identified by the press as a reform minded commissioner, I appreciate the strong bi-partisan support I receive from independent thinkers and voters across our district. My door is always open.
